A few weeks ago I made a quilt for my Mum for her birthday, it is the Rain or Shine quilt from The Practical Guide to Patchwork.
I used fabrics from the Picnic & Fairground collection by Denyse Schmidt that was/is available at Spotlight. Not the sort of fabrics I would normally buy but I thought my Mum would like them.
I had originally started another pattern but didn't like it and this pattern wasn't too difficult considering the time I left myself to make it. My Mum was away overseas for 5 weeks, I bought the fabrics the week before she left and somehow didn't manage to motivate myself until the week before she came back. Not my smartest move!
The blocks are supposed to have a rosette/yo yo in the middle but I'm not a fan of them so decided to leave them off. I was pretty happy with how my points came together so I thought I could get away with leaving them off.
Anyway this should be good for sitting on the couch watching TV next winter in my Mum's very cold house, hopefully she gets lots of use out of it. I think I have caught the quilting bug lately and am planning my next one, maybe in not such a short time frame though!

I really love it Peta. I think those fabrics really suit the design. My mom would be in heaven if I made her something like that. :)
