I went sewing machine shopping last week and was so excited to come home with my dream machine!
I've been planning on getting a new machine for a while and my Bernina loving friends have done nothing but rave about theirs and now I can see for myself why they love them so much. I had a very, very basic Janome that has done me well considering I had never had it serviced (pretty shameful I know) but this machine has everything I could ever want. I've been trying lots of different things, playing around with different feet and stitches and have made myself a few new tops to practice. I also decided to make a new bag.
This is the Osoberry Bag and you can find the free tutorial here.
The quilting fabrics are from Spotlight as is the lightweight denim, I ended up doing an inner layer of duckcloth to give it a bit of shape.
It's nice and roomy and I should be able to pile a heap of junk in there. :) More exciting news for me is that our annual Crafty Mamas Craft Retreat is only just over a week away and we are staying for 3 nights this year - I can't wait!!

ah, I see you and I have the same dream machine Peta! I love my bernina. Cute bag, thanks for the tute link. Have such fun on the crafty mamas weekend.
And now you have given me an idea for a retreat project! Counting the days...
Hooray for a new machine, Peta! I really should get mine out more often, but because I don't have a designated sewing area, it just ends up on the dining table... Oh well! Another time :)
Congrats to the new "baby".
The bag looks fantastic! Hope you will find your stuff in there ;-0
Oooo I love your rendition of the bag! And you caught the little turn-down of the pocket lining...I thought that would complicate the directions so I didn't put it in, but figured discerning crafters would pick up on it ;)
Cute bag, thanks for the tutorial link. You have given me an idea for a project!
